Lorene
Lorene has called Oxford her home for most of her life. She is happily retired and living her best life. Her passion for fitness and movement have taken her down many roads.
Lorene graduated from UNC with a degree in Health and Physical Education and taught Health and PE to grades K-8. She also developed the first PE and wellness curriculum for VGCC where she taught for 15 years.
Lorene and her family opened a gym in Oxford in the 1980’s, known as Currin’s Total Fitness Center. She became a Master Gold Certified Fitness Instructor and trainer leading fitness classes and training instructors for over 30 years. She opened “Lorene’s Gymnastics and Cheerleading” center teaching gymnastics and competitive cheerleading to ages 3-18.
Lorene worked as a mentor for “Curves for Women” helping to open their fitness franchises in the US and Canada where she trained owners and staff in the operations of the business.
Her search to find more movement in her life eventually led her to yoga. After one class, she was hooked. Lorene is now completing her YTT as well as a certification in children’s yoga. “Yoga is my new passion and I’m honored and excited to teach at YFG.”
